Art Design

The Parks and Recreation Association is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the community by providing exceptional recreational, cultural, and educational programs. They manage and maintain a network of beautiful parks, recreational facilities, and public spaces that offer a wide range of activities for people of all ages.

Their mission is to foster community engagement, promote healthy lifestyles, and preserve the natural beauty of the local environment. Through their diverse array of programs, including sports leagues, fitness classes, cultural events, and educational workshops, they strive to create inclusive and vibrant spaces where community members can connect, learn, and thrive.

For this project, I was honored to create artwork for a Juneteenth celebration organized by the local parks and recreation association. The celebration aims to honor the historical significance of Juneteenth, commemorate the journey towards freedom, and inspire future growth and unity within the community. The artwork will be used for a mural design, posters, and merchandise available for community members to purchase.

The artwork needed to resonate deeply with the historical and cultural importance of Juneteenth, capturing the essence of liberation, resilience, and hope. The design should evoke pride, reflection, and a sense of community among viewers, fostering a collective celebration of heritage and progress. The final design celebrates the journey of African Americans and aims to inspire ongoing unity and progress. Through this artwork, I wanted to contribute to a meaningful and memorable Juneteenth celebration that honors the past and looks forward to a brighter future.
